6.2% ABV, 65 IBU. Grain to glass time: 12 days. The Cascade hops in this SMaSH beer bring a grapefruit and pine flavor profile. This was the hop that popularized the American Pale Ale category with the help of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale back in the 1980s, which used Cascade hops exclusively. For almost 20 years, Cascade's grapefruit and floral characteristics became synonymous with American craft beer. SMaSH stands for Single Malt and Single Hop. This series highlights the differences hop varieties make in the beer. We recommend brewing at least two of these beers at the same time if you have two BEERMKRs, or if you have a friend with a BEERMKR. The malt used is Maris Otter from England. This is a complex base malt is slightly nutty and a touch darker than 2-row and pilsen malt, making it an excellent malt to stand on its own.
